我們先看一個簡單的真題：

21-10. Scientist reported last month on a sign of relative solar _____; the solar wind, a rush of charged particles continually spewed from the Sun at a million miles an hour, had diminished to its lowest level in 50 years.

A. quiescence

B. turbulence

C. isolation

D. calm

E. remoteness

F. instability

解析

本題邏輯很明確，根據冒號提示的解釋說明邏輯，后面整體對太陽風的狀態(tài)進行解讀。很多同學一看diminish這個詞，既然是減弱的狀態(tài)，那就是不穩(wěn)定的，同時聯(lián)想到自己已有的知識儲備，感覺太陽風就應該是這樣的特點，于是選擇了BF。但很遺憾，這個答案是錯的。

我們仔細看一下這里的時態(tài)，人家說的是had diminished，使用的是過去完成時。這個時態(tài)強調事情已經發(fā)生在過去的過去，并且對過去產生影響。并不是正在進行的狀態(tài)。所以意思是“已經弱化到50年最低水平”這個含義，強調結果。所以答案對應AD。

實際上很多考題都有對時態(tài)的考察，如果能注意到這些細節(jié)，那么我們解決一些難題就會相對輕松許多。

我們再看一個相對復雜的真題：

解析

本文一空是在探討古今兩種觀點的關系，而兩種觀點都是在敘述natural expression和artifice（或styes）之間的關系。由于沒有更多明顯的邏輯提示，需要根據后文來反推。所以先去做二空和三空。學在加拿大

先看三空。三空根據冒號提示的解釋說明邏輯，前面講style并不僅僅是一個修辭優(yōu)美的句子，說明style是非常重要的。所以冒號后面體現(xiàn)相同特征，空格選I，體現(xiàn)、展現(xiàn)。即：壞的表達展現(xiàn)出貧乏的思想。同時二空根據and提示并列，同樣也要體現(xiàn)style重要，所以對應E，style并不是一個無關緊要的問題。

現(xiàn)在關鍵來看一空。如果有的同學對動詞的時態(tài)不夠敏感，可能就無法搞清楚后面兩句說的是現(xiàn)在的觀點，還是過去的觀點，這樣容易產生錯誤。通過仔細觀察，后面兩句所使用的時態(tài)都是過去時，所以可以由此得到過去的觀點：style重要。同時從第一句中對當今觀點的描述“our contemporary preference for natural expression over artifice”可以看到，當今觀點認為natural expression更重要。顯然兩個觀點相反。因此體現(xiàn)這個核心特征的，只能是A選項。
