PhD Positions in Food Science/Analytical Chemistry at the University of British Columbia

PhD student positions in January 2023 are available in the laboratory of Dr.Tianxi Yang in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia(UBC).Dr.Yang's research program is focused on the development of innovative analytical technologies and advanced materials to improve the safetyand sustainability of agri-food systems.Her research program is highly interdisciplinary,drawing heavily from Food Science,Analytical Chemistry,Material Science and Nanotechnology.Currently,Yang lab mainly focuses on three research themes including 1)develop novel Point-of-Care tools for foodsafety monitoring,2)design smart nano-enabled agrichemicals for precisionagriculture and 3)create sustainable and multifunctional packaging materialsto improve food safety and quality.Details:https://www.landfood.ubc.ca/tianxi-yang/

Qualifications of the applicant:

•Master's Degree in Food Science,Analytical Chemistry,Material Science or other closely related fields.

•Previous research experience includes,but is not limited to analyticalchemistry,food analysis,food safety,spectroscopy,microbiology,DNA/RNAnanotechnology,nanomaterials,biopolymer engineering,stimuli-responsive materials,machine learning.

•Students with publication records/research experience are preferred.Be highly motivated,organized and passionate about research.

•English language requirement:TOEFL score:577(paper-based test),233(computer-based test)or 90(internet-based);IELTS:A minimum overall bandscore of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in each component of the ACADEMIC test

近日UBC大學(xué)官網(wǎng)顯示，學(xué)費(fèi)按學(xué)分計(jì)算，并由理事會每年審查。

近年來，國內(nèi)學(xué)生學(xué)費(fèi)上漲了2%，國際學(xué)生學(xué)費(fèi)漲幅在2%到5%，該校2022~23學(xué)年費(fèi)用已于上月底獲得理事會批準(zhǔn)，并將于今年5月1日生效。

UBC大學(xué)所有專業(yè)中，最昂貴的為建筑、景觀建筑和都市設(shè)計(jì)系，學(xué)費(fèi)每年為$9232.2，每學(xué)分$307.74，為較“經(jīng)濟(jì)”的學(xué)系如美術(shù)、藥學(xué)、社會工作、護(hù)理系的逾1.5倍。國際經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)專業(yè)每年學(xué)費(fèi)為$9166.2。

另外，以應(yīng)用科學(xué)系為例，UBC國內(nèi)生一年學(xué)費(fèi)$7065.89，平均每個(gè)學(xué)分$190.97。而國際學(xué)生方面，該學(xué)科學(xué)費(fèi)則高達(dá)$54,986.81，為本地生的近8倍，平均每學(xué)分為$1486.13，差距進(jìn)一步拉大。

申請要求

四年全日制本科學(xué)士學(xué)位。要求211學(xué)校平均成績85分以上，非211學(xué)校平均成績88分以上。

成績要求

托福90分，或雅思7.0（單項(xiàng)不低于6.5），部分專業(yè)需要GRE或GMAT成績。
